Human Resources

There are abundant human resources in Hangzhou. Over 80% of colleges and universities and scientific research institutes in Zhejiang Province (including the largest comprehensive university in China – Zhejiang University), gather in Hangzhou. Zhejiang University, a top ranked university, houses several labs and research centers focusing on renewable energy and related engineering. There are 40 general universities and over 300,000 students studying in Hangzhou. Meanwhile, the Development Zone is adjacent to Xiasha Higher Education Park – the largest higher education park in Hangzhou, which enables the Development Zone to boast various specialized talents and rich labor force resources. They are strong technical backup for investment and business establishment.

Industry

After 25 years of strong economic growth the Chinese government has now taken several measurements to promote and support investments in renewable energies and clean tech industries. It is expected that China’s next economic growth will go along with a clean tech industry boom.

Hangzhou has already established several measurements to successfully attract investment in renewable energy and evironmental industries. Some of the measurements are specialised fairs and exhibitions, university research departments and specialised education parks. At the end of 2008 the renewable energy and clean tech industry already contributed about 10% to Hangzhou’s industry.

Hangzhou and consequently QJEDA enjoy superb location and infrastructure. Hangzhou is part of the Yangtze Delta Economic region one of China’s economically most dynamic regions. Due to QJEDA’s location northwest of Hangzhou, the distance to China’s financial Centre Shanghai is less than two hours, and soon – with the high-speed magnetic railway working  - less than 40 minutes.

Highways and railways lead to all important regions in the north, south and west of China. Two international airports and two of China’s largest seaports lead to all important destinations in Southeast Asia and the world. The Yangtze Delta is one of the most densely populated regions on earth. Hangzhou is the educational center of Zhejiang Province with a student population of more than 300.000.

The combination of all these site-related factors has already convinced several companies to invest in QJEDA, Hangzhou. The renewable energy and clean tech have become major clusters in Hangzhou now.
