The straight-line distance from Rudong to Shanghai is only 120 kilometers. After Sutong Bridge opened to public traffic, Nitong Highway, Coastal Highway, Yantong Highway and Sujiahang Highway are all connected to the bridge. After the accomplishment of Sutong Bridge, it now only takes around 2 hours from Rudong to Shanghai.

Yangkou Port is a naturally endowed port, which is very rare along the coast of eastern China. 62 docks with the capacity ranged from 10,000 tonnages to 30,000 tonnages can be constructed here. According to construction plan, large portside industrial base and logistic center can also be built here. Now Yangkou Port is becoming important industrial bases of petrochemical, energy, metallurgy and modern logistics in Jiangsu Province.

Two navigation channels, two artificial islands, three coastlines with 62 berths, two railways, two expressways and two canales are included in the development planning of Yangkou Port.
