Currently, the boat and yacht manufacturing has entered its rapid growth stage in China. Many provinces and municipalities, such as Shanghai, Guangdong, Shandong, Liaoning, Hainan, Fujian, Zhejiang, Hubei and Chongqing, etc, are developing boat and yacht manufacturing industry. After 2006, coastal areas witnessed extensive planning on boat and yacht manufacturing, boat and yacht club building, and boat and yacht business activities. The Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 further promoted development of this industry. In addition, Management Regulations for the Safety of Yachts came into force on January 1, 2009, which makes cross-regional traveling of Yachts possible and thus boosts development of the industry.

In 2009, the financial crisis heavily struck the boat and yacht manufacturing in the US, Australia, and Europe. However, it brought great opportunity for Chinese boat and yacht manufacturers in international markets. Moreover, many local governments in China are striving to develop boat and yacht manufacturing, related supporting industries, and boat and yacht industrial parks. With rising per capita disposable income in China and expanding domestic boat and yacht market, the boat and yacht manufacturing in China will be a new source of economic growth.
